Aprons in the Garden 07/15/2010
Summer is flying by and it is now time to harvest those wonderful vegetables that were planted back in the spring. With all of the rain we have had, our garden is growing great! Fruit trees are getting ready, too. Time for the kids to put on their aprons once again and help with the harvest. So, fill up the 3 pockets of your children's apron with garden tools or let them carry some of the vegetables back to the house in them. They will love helping you prepare them for a great, fresh dinner. Children's Painting Aprons 06/17/2010
Well, the first couple of weeks of summer are already behind us. We are keeping grandkids this summer and they are helping greatly with hoeing weeds in the yard and garden, mowing, and then the fun stuff of swimming in their pool or going to the lake. When it's time to do some inside things we can get out the craft box and let them "go to town". On go the painting aprons and the paint and glue go into creative mode. But their clothes will stay clean! Try one of my painting aprons with your kids! Children's Aprons in the Garden 05/05/2010
Now that the air and the ground are nice and warm it's a great time to share gardening tasks with your kids. They love when those first seedlings come up and if you plant vegetables maybe they will be excited enough about helping that they will really enjoy eating them. Well, we can only hope! Pick up some kid's gardening tools at the store, put them in the 3 pockets of your children's aprons and they will be ready to help. Happy gardening! Painting Aprons 04/11/2010
It's a beautiful Spring day here in the country and I love the fresh air, trees in bloom, and flowers coming up. Some of the grandkids are here this weekend, but can't get them to stay in the kitchen with their cooking aprons on because they want to be outside! Imagine that! I'll have to admit, though, the smell of fresh air in the Spring is even better than the smell of cooking in the kitchen. A great idea for a day like this, though, is to set up a painting easel outside, put on their painting aprons, and have them draw or paint what they see. Sign their name to it, date it, and write a description in their own words of what they painted. Great keepsake to look back on some day and smile!! Dinosaur Food 01/24/2010
Hope your weekend is going great! I have had a request from my grandson for a couple of weeks now to make some Dinosaur Food for snack-time, so we may just get it done today. A lazy Sunday afternoon is a great time for kids to put on their cooking aprons and get ready to feed the dinosaurs. So let your little ones get some "dirt" and "swamp water" and try out this recipe: Vintage Kitchen Apron 01/14/2010
One of the children's aprons I make has pictures of appliances and dishes you would find in a vintage kitchen. Reminds you of Grandma's kitchen when you were a child. We have been remodeling a kitchen like that out here on the farm. Sometimes it feels like we will never get it done, but we will keep working. When my Mother-in-law cooked here, she had a stove just like that one on the apron. And how could we forget that coffee pot and stand mixer! Lots of good cooking went on in that vintage kitchen! What do you remember about your Grandma's kitchen? Cooking Aprons 12/24/2009
I found the cutest little girls cooking calzones. It looks like a great recipe and an easy one for kids to do. So, get your kids cooking aprons on and enjoy this great snack! Let me know how they turn out! Children's Cooking Aprons 12/15/2009
Well, this is the last week of school before the kids will be out for winter break. It has felt like winter today - pretty chilly. With the grandkids coming to stay part of next week, my children's cooking aprons can be put to good use. Just made one this past weekend for a birthday gift for our granddaughter. See if there is a cooking apron your little one might like, too. Great gift! Hand made aprons 12/05/2009
Well, how was your Thanksgiving? We had a smaller crowd than usual, but we were not short on food! Enjoyed it all. Now, back to my favorite "job" - sewing, especially the hand made children's aprons, and painting aprons. Here's a look at one of the NEW painting smocks: Children's Cooking Apron 11/22/2009
It's getting close to Thanksgiving time and this would be a great opportunity for the grandkids to have a children's cooking apron to keep them clean while they help in the kitchen. One of our little granddaughters was born on Thanksgiving Day, three years ago. What a blessing! She loves cooking in her own little kitchen - not quite ready for Nonna's kitchen yet! Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving Day! |
